What is workplace safety? 
Workplace safety involves the methods and 
practises put in place to make sure that the 
safety and health of employees within a 

workplace in upheld and secured.


Why is it important?

Workplace safety is important because without

it there would be accidents leading to injury or

death. Also not following policies and safety

protocol can mean that the machinery used to

do the work can be damaged as well. Either

way it would both hurt the workers and the

efficiency of the work done. Everyone loses

when safety is not upheld.

Who is responsible?  
The responsibility falls on both the employers 
and employees to make sure the workplace is 
safe.
 
What is PPE?

Personal Protective equipment is the tools

and gear used to ensure the workers safety

while working on a site.

Examples of PPE are:
Hardhats
Reflective vests
Gloves
Boots
Goggles
Harnesses
Earmuffs

Why is PPE Important?
PPE is important because it is what keeps workers safe on the site that they are working on and allow them to perform their jobs properly.

The 7 steps to keeping safe in the work site:

• Make known the safety measures to be taken on the site.

• Form a group or assign person that enforces the rules.

• There needs to be proper communication between workers and management to avoid mishaps on the work site.

• Proper training on PPE and how to use them.

• Do NOT assume ANY job can be done without injury.

• Keep the workplace clean.

• Create a checklist that can be used to track items.
